Fannie Laurence is a Montreal based photographer with a passion for portraiture. In 2015, she opened Trinidad Studio, a photographic studio and collective working space dedicated to creative collaboration.
She grew up in Quebec City with her mother and three siblings and in Las Vegas with her father. His death in 2012 deepened her sense of self, and self discovery. It caused her to reflect on her path forward, and specifically, on her path as an artist. The narratives in her personal photographic series often explore the gaps that develop in relationships, and how these gaps can lead to the replication of behaviours that affect the way we function in society.
Fannie’s photographs reflect a duality of the contrasting environments of her childhood, and the weight of self doubt she has carried as a result.
